I Saw God Today

The sweetest song about God and childbirth that makes me cry EVERY TIME! If you haven't heard it, you need to! I had to share the lyrics!

George Strait "I Saw God Today"

Just walked down the street to the coffee shop

Had to take a break I've been by her side for 18 hours straight

Saw a flower growing in the middle of a sidewalk

Pushing up through the concrete Like it was planted right there for me to see

The flashing lights, the honking horns

All seemed to fade away In the shadow of that hospital at 508

I saw God today.
* * *
Chorus:

I've been to church, I've read the book I know he's here but I don't look

Near as often as I should (Yeah I know I should)

His fingerprints are everywhere I just slowed down to stop and stare

Opened my eyes and man I swear I saw God today.

Saw a couple walking by

They were holding hands

Man she had that glow

Yeah I couldn't help but notice she was starting to show

Stood there for a minute taking in the sky

Lost in that sunset

A splash of amber melted into shades of red.

Chorus:

I've been to church, I've read the book I know he's here but I don't look

Near as often as I should (Yeah I know I should)

His fingerprints are everywhere I just slowed down to stop and stare

Opened my eyes and man I swear I saw God today.

Got my face pressed up against the nursery glass

She's sleeping like a rock

My name on her wrist wearing tiny pink socks

She's got my nose, she's got her mamas eyes

My brand new baby girl

She's a miracle

I saw God today..

Sunday

Koletyn visits!

Got to see my precious nephew this weekend-- Koletyn Keith! He's absolutely adorable and such a good baby! He liked me . . . I think he smelled the milk! :) He cooed during church today and kept the attention of all around, what a little blessing! I hope Dalton is as cute as Koletyn. Koletyn has some chunky legs and jaws, which I totally expect from our baby. I so wish that he lived close by, I could love on those jaws 24/7!!!

Tuesday

Babymoon at Orange Beach!

Last Thursday after work my knight in shining armour picked me up and we headed off to Orange Beach, AL. We arrived at 2:30am. . . after lots of laughing, talking, and singing loud to keep ourselves awake! We always have so much fun together no matter what the situation, I love my hubby so much!! Friday we spent the day going from the beach to the pool--fighting for shade and running from smokers! YUCK! We've chosen not to smoke at all, but especially around our child; however, the bad decisions other people make can still affect OUR child! That's so horrible and burns me up EVERY time! Why should we have to cater to them...ahhh! Enough on that tangent.
Anyway, Saturday we spent most of the day hanging out, went to the outlet mall and bought lots of stuff for the little man! Came back and swam in the pool. Sunday we headed out to the beach, got everything all set up -- umbrella, chairs, cooler, magazine, etc etc. --- then Todd got mauled by a jellyfish. This was not your normal sting, it literally wrapped itself around his leg. I think he was doing all he could to keep from crying. Bless his heart. I grabbed what I could and followed him up to the room. That was the end of our beach day! We went to the movies and saw The Dark Knight! It was good, a little disturbing, but good. This baby is gonna LOVE action movies or either he was scared to death. . . haha. He was doing flips all over the place! That's the first time I've really felt him move. It was great. Monday we headed out and had another fun trip home, laughing all the way, hahaha!
Fun trip of relaxing and enjoying these last times before baby boy! Pictures to come.
We had time to contemplate a name for this little one. . . introducing. . . .

DALTON TODD PAYNE

Saturday

It's about time!

Being the impatient people that we are, there is no way we were waiting on August 1st. Hey... it pays to work at a hospital. Todd came by today and the ultrasound tech in the Ultrasound dept. said she would do an ultrasound on me! In the back of my mind, I am thinking we are totally wasting our time, expecting her to tell us the baby is in the same position. First I drank lots of apple juice to wake this little one up! : ) We went downstairs and as soon as she put the wand on my belly, she said "Oh, it looks like a boy!" We were both like well, you have to show us please. So she pointed out the legs and then all the correct parts in between! It was all there and very obvious. I said "Are you sure?!?" And she said that she was positive... "That's a boy all day long!" I could not stop laughing, totally shocked. After months of hearing girl, girl, girl from EVERYONE, it was such a huge shocker to hear those words...IT'S A BOY! We walked out happy.... me smiling and laughing and Todd walking with his head a little higher ("I made a boy!" "I have a fishing buddy!")! So glad we took the chance to peek, of course we're still getting it double checked on August 1st before we start buying anything!
Whew.... it's about time!

Friday

No luck!!

We went to our doctor's appointment to get the level II ultrasound. The ultrasound tech said "Oh it doesn't look like we'll be finding out today, look how it's positioned!" The baby was breech with its bottom down in my pelvis, and its face was facing my back. Sooooo, there was no view of the little bottom. The arms and legs were moving around like crazy but the baby wouldn't change positions. We got a clear view of each arm and leg, the heart, kidneys, spine, and stomach-- all were fine. We couldn't see the face!! This baby was hiding! So no profile pics for us to keep. They could barely get any pictures for us at all. : ( It was so great to see the baby, but we were so looking forward to finding out the sex! Then the doctor, Dr. Ho, came in and tried too. She shook my belly and I rolled from side to side, all to no avail. This little one is just like its daddy, stubborn! So she told us to come back in 3wks. My appt is August 1st.

Wednesday

Trying something new...

Been reading a few other bloggers lately... and decided to try this on my own! With all the new things going on in our life, this is a great way to update and share our joys.
Right now we are anxiously awaiting our little one to reveal its hotdog or hamburger... BOY or GIRL?!? Tried at 15wks and being the little "payne" that it is, we weren't able to see! Friday I have a level II ultrasound with the specialist and I'll be 18wks at that point! If it's meant to be, we should get a peek! Can't believe I'm already 18wks, almost halfway there. We have longed to be parents ... really, since we met each other... as young as we were, we knew we wanted to start a family together. This baby is truly a miracle from God. Being told we would have difficulty conceiving was a crusher, but we prayed and prayed and ended up not needing any help from fertility methods... all we needed was God! Oh how amazing of a feeling when I saw those positive tests, and then the little pea's heartbeat on the ultrasound... to now seeing it move around and wave at us! God is an awesome God!
This is a wonderful exciting time in our lives and we cannot wait until December! Todd is amazing... rubbing my feet, holding my hand, bringing my vitamins, reminding me of what "the book" says, rubbing my belly and saying "HEY baby" in the cutest little voice! I can only imagine what a father he will be. :) Truly incredible! He looks at me like he cannot believe what "we" created. Smiling from ear to ear.
Definitely anticipate an update at the end of the week. Keep fingers crossed that its legs won't be! Haha!
